If you are looking for bespoke coaching to guide you to your next personal best then this is the program for you. I work with a small group of determined amateur athletes who are looking to maximise their physical performance in a variety of endurance, obstacle and fitness events. What I offer is uniquely different to most endurance programmes. Alongside your personal goals, you may have a full-time job and a family that needs you at your best. I believe you can deliver exceptional performances without sacrificing your social life, health and career. I will show you a different approach that harnesses all areas of your life to bring out your very best.
I’ve spent 20 years exploring, researching, learning and practising an array of training methods across the physical and psychological spectrum. From Functional Movement Systems (FMS) to Lactate Threshold testing to POMS, I take a ‘leave no stone un-turned’ approach to unlocking performance. I have extensive training and experience utilising endurance and strength training methods to build robust and versatile performers.

Build an engine - understand how to train for endurance and refine your intuition for pacing.
Fuel for health - learn how to keep eating simple, effective and optimise your health.
Love the journey - realise how enjoyment underpins successful long-term training for life.

You are training for an event which requires extensive training and planning. You need guidance and support with logistics, tactics and strategy. You need a coach to analyse your training history, find gaps and write a personalised training programme to lead you to success.

Being a ‘certain fitness’ is not a prerequisite. What is essential is a determined and committed mindset. Most importantly, you should be open to feedback and coaching.
-
Absolutely. You may be working with a physiotherapist or medical team and want to return to full fitness, and are unsure of the best approach. I can integrate your rehabilitation program into your training as you return to fitness.
-
Yes! Once treated as an afterthought, serious endurance athletes now appreciate the importance of strength training to remain robust and ultimately perform to their best. We will begin by scheduling a phone call to discuss how I can help you. I you are happy, we will then meet (if practical) or schedule a video call. We will discuss your aims and I will explain the route I propose we take. From here, depending on what we are tacktlling, I will spend some time planning your initial training (2-3 weeks) and share this with you using an online platform. We will check in regularly to ensure the sessions are working for you. A foundational part of coaching is continuous feedback - I am learning from you as you are learning from me.

There is no minimum commitment on the Perform programme. You may be 3 weeks from your first marathon and need help with the final preparations. Or you may have a multi-day bikepacking race across Europe that you want to enter next year. Either way, the coaching commitment is for as long as you require.
-
Setbacks are part and parcel of competing and racing. I can support you through most setbacks however, on rare occasions, you may need to pause or stop coaching due to an injury or layoff. There will be no charge for a pause in coaching, regardless of how long you require off.
-
We will use a mix of session feedback, heart-rate data and short check-ins on the phone to keep track of your progress. The added value of having a coach is less about analysing data from your watch and more about the interpretation of that data in the context of you as a person. I’m yet to find a better method of doing this than a conversation.

I have received formal coaching qualifications in Rowing, Cycling and Running. Although I work with triathletes and swimrunners (and have competed in both, I am not a swim coach (I know some excellent swim coaches, though!). I have extensive experience in strength and conditioning, specifically for endurance athletes and teaching weight lifting.
